If you are a believer in Christ and you are having trouble overcoming the fleshly desires of sex, porn and/or masturbation, I pray that this post will lead you to victory over it. If you are not struggling with an addiction, but you somehow believe in your heart that you have the right to masturbate and/or watch pornography, I pray also that you realize that only a fool is right in his own mind (Prov 12:15). We should all take a step back and realize what our actions are really doing to our souls.
The subject of sex and pornography is a real sought out subject for those struggling with addiction. Addiction is defined as being an obsession, a psychological desire that is insatiable and compulsive, which can render a devastating effect on your soul. Watching pornography, looking at playboy magazines, having multiple sex partners or masturbating every chance you get, are only desires that lasts for short, sporadic periods of time. We must pray against this spirit and keep our minds and bodies pure for God and focused on the things that are holy and pure (Phil 4:8).
13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
(1 Corinthians 10:13, King James Version)
My Pastor once told me that insatiable desires are desires that cannot be met or quenched. When you understand what this means, you realize that the addiction cycle will never end. So you constantly find yourself doing the same thing over and over again until the spirit of the Lord interrupts your folly.
11As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly. (Proverbs 26:11, King James Version)
While you are watching your porn, masturbating by yourself or having sex with strangers every night may all make you feel real good at a particular moment in time, but there is something deep down inside of you saying “this isn’t right.” Immediately afterwards, you feel sad and insignificant, worthless and ashamed. You feel that the future of your present actions will not lead to a prosperous life. You can feel your soul slowly chipping away because you are not proud of what you’re doing.
Let me make this clear. For the first part, if you are confused about whether or not you should watch pornography, masturbate uncontrollably or sex down every fine woman/man you meet; please do not do it! Do not give a spiritual seed of sexual immorality the opportunity to fester and grow. It will gain complete control over your thoughts and actions giving full dominion over you mind, body and soul. You will develop an obsession of uncontrollable lusts and can cause you to become a sexual predator or adulterer. You will not be on the path towards righteousness, but on a path to self destruction. The path to righteousness is narrow (Mat7:14); few people find and stay on it.
To defeat this spirit, you need to own it and resist it. What I mean by owning the spirit is to have full control over whether or not you give the temptation place; an opportunity to defile your mind and your spirit. YOU need to own it, don’t let it own you. You have to tell your flesh, the ungodly desires we naturally have within us; NO I am not doing that anymore! You have to take it through a process of developing it to a point where it becomes intuitive to think about the things that are only holy and pleasing to God. Fleshly desires are very powerful, but nothing is more powerful than God and His Word.
Please carefully read the following scripture:
12 13Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
(Romans 6:12-14, King James Version)
This scripture should clearly give you the right perspective. The bible says let not sin reign in your mortal body. That means that we have the power NOT to allow our fleshy lusts to reign or have complete dominant control over our bodies. The way we do it is we don’t present our bodies as an instrument of unrighteousness unto sin. Don’t put yourself in ungodly situations where you will give opportunity to the temptation. (Ask God for help. The Lord’s Prayer says, and lead us not into temptation Matt6:13. ) Get into the habit of resisting the urges to watch that favorite porn movie or website. Get rid of it! Install some software on your computer that will filter and block those sites that will cause you to sin. When you put yourself in the wrong situations, you will probably get the wrong results. Find and alternative to those bad habits by going to church, praying, doing yard work, study the bible or clean up the house. There are a million things to do, but you have to be real with yourself and find something that can occupy your attention without any distraction (be very careful with going to the gym, lots of tight clothing).
If you sincerely want to repent of your sins and reconcile yourself unto God, there is hope. God wants to forgive us of all of our sins. God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
(1 John 1:8-10, King James Version)
I pray that God blesses you for reading this post and please remember that faith without works is dead. I have put my faith to work and I am constantly resisting the devil. I decided to write this post (and more to come so I can study and show myself approved to God and focus on the kingdom). Porn and sex addiction is not just going to walk out of your life, you have to kick it out and keep it out! We must help each other out to overcome this spiritual plague in the world to reconcile our relationship with God. God Bless.
